Possible Concealed Carry Mistakes

define responsibility

Remember, with great power comes great responsibility.

Not Taking the Concealed Carry Responsibility Seriously
Gun owners must realize the great responsibility that comes with carrying a concealed weapon. Because the effects of pulling a trigger can be deadly, the permit holder must understand how to accurately assess a situation that might result in the firing of a weapon. It is important to know that there are other ways to diffuse a volatile situation. Even though a person is legally permitted to carry a concealed weapon, knowing when to discharge that weapon is entirely dependent on the surroundings and particular situation. Pulling a weapon can have far-reaching, devastating consequences.

Not Dressing the Part
Wearing tight-fitting clothing that reveals the outline of a gun is a major mistake as it allows a perpetrator to know a weapon is present. It is important to wear a holster that keeps the gun safely at hand and makes it easy to take out when it is required. The holster should be comfortable and designed for the weapon it is holding. Wearing loose-fitting clothing that conceals the holster makes it much easier to retrieve the weapon safely.

Being Unfamiliar with the Concealed Weapon.
It does not make sense to carry a weapon without knowing exactly how to use it. Uncertainty and hesitating in a realistic situation can be deadly. Practicing with the chosen weapon and being familiar with its parts, such as the safety and trigger location, can make the difference between controlling a situation and confusion. Confusion can lead to accidents and injuries for the permit holder and others. Failing to practice using a weapon is a big mistake made by many novice permit holders. Choosing a particular type of firearm and becoming familiar with it is far better than attempting to use an unfamiliar gun. This can produce an undesirable outcome.
